Lunacal
Smarter, Personalized Calendar UX
Designed key UX improvements for Lunacal’s AI-powered calendar app, enhancing personalization, usability, and conversion potential.
Role: Product Designer (Contract)
Timeline: January 2025 - March 2025
Overview
Lunacal is an AI-powered calendar that helps users visualize time, manage meetings, and express their personal style. Beyond organization, Lunacal aims to make scheduling a conversion touchpoint — empowering users to present themselves professionally and convert more invites into actual meetings.
I contributed to Lunacal’s evolution through three core design initiatives:
✅ Designing a professional theme that enhanced trust and visual appeal on scheduling pages
✅ Redefining Edit Mode for better clarity, responsiveness, and user confidence
✅ Building a personalized color system that allowed expressive customization without sacrificing accessibility or contrast

The Challenge
As Lunacal’s audience grew — spanning freelancers, startups, and professionals — the product needed to evolve beyond functionality.
The core challenges were clear:
Users wanted a more professional, credible look for their scheduling pages, especially when shared externally.
The Edit Mode experience had grown inconsistent as customization features were added over time, creating hierarchy and responsiveness issues.
The product needed a personalized color system that enabled brand expression without compromising usability or conversion clarity.
In essence, Lunacal needed to feel professional, flexible, and scalable — all while protecting the integrity of its core experience: turning invites into meetings.

Design Strategy
The design strategy supported Lunacal’s vision of making scheduling a conversion tool — not just a utility.
Core Priorities:
✅ Professional polish → Create a visually neutral yet trustworthy design language for diverse users.
✅ Responsive clarity → Make editing seamless, predictable, and confidence-inspiring across all devices.
✅ Personalization with integrity → Allow customization that feels personal but remains accessible and conversion-focused.

Visual Design
1️⃣ Professional Theme Development
The scheduling page is often a user’s first impression — and first impressions drive conversion.
Designed a versatile, minimal, and elegant theme that looked equally good for freelancers, consultants, and teams.
Balanced visual neutrality with Lunacal’s existing brand warmth — so users could appear professional without feeling sterile.
Optimized for responsiveness across screen sizes — ensuring every page felt deliberate and balanced on both mobile and desktop.
Conducted multiple visual iterations to refine hierarchy, spacing, and typography, achieving a tone that felt confident yet human.
Outcome: A modern, conversion-friendly theme that elevated brand perception and strengthened Lunacal’s credibility with professional users.

2️⃣ Edit Mode Improvements
As new customization features rolled out, Edit Mode had started to feel fragmented and unpredictable.
My goal was to make it clear, responsive, and reassuring — so users felt in control while customizing their pages.
Key improvements included:
→ Responsive layout restructuring for seamless editing across desktop and mobile.
→ Added a clear saving state and subtle transitions to reinforce reliability.
→ Refined visual hierarchy and grouping to make primary vs. secondary actions instantly distinguishable.
Outcome: A faster, more confident editing experience — with smoother interactions and clearer visual logic.

3️⃣ Personalized Color System
Color personalization was a major UX challenge: users wanted creative control, but the system had to ensure accessibility and visual harmony across all variations.
Designed an HSL-based color framework allowing safe, controlled customization of primary hues.
Built smart constraints to maintain contrast, legibility, and consistent luminance, protecting usability and brand quality.
Structured the system to scale with future theming features — supporting potential gradients, dark mode, and seasonal variants.
Outcome: A dynamic color system that empowered users to express their identity without compromising clarity or conversion rates.
